Kittycat: Cat and Mouse

Weekends are when food bloggers take a break from posting about food and share pictures of their pets. Clare over at eatstuff.net initiated Weekend Cat Blogging and this week is its first anniversary! With the sparseness of my posts here nowadays, this is hardly a break but an explanation!

What keeps me from blogging more often nowadays? Aside from work and personal projects, there’s this big bundle of fur called Kittycat who refuses to budge from my computer table!

She was a stray who insisted on being adopted. At first I thought she was an abandoned kitten because she was very docile and would jump on my lap and just beg to be stroked. I later realised she was a feral after seeing a colony of cats near our house and they looked almost exactly like her - same coat, markings and tail. Hmmm… a girl who got herself off the streets, hehehe!

For WCB #52, Clare asks us to post about our cats’ favourite toys. Well, Kittycat has several. She doesn’t like conventional toys but loves boxes. She plays hide-and-seek with the other cats and then falls asleep when tired. She also likes the long cardboard tubes inside the rolls of wax or foil paper (yes, she stays in the kitchen most of the time, waiting for something edible to fall on the floor) and chase or hold them for a long time.

Recently though, I discovered something else! First it solved the mystery of why the monitor was always smudged when I never touch it and wipe it at least thrice a week. It seems that if I leave for a few minutes, the furry creature jumps on the table and paws the screen. I even saw her licking it once and yes, it was a page off a food blog, I kid you not. When she’s tired of all that, she just lays down and nudges the mouse with her nose. That was after I told her biting the mouse’s ‘tail’ is forbidden.

Visit Clare and Kiri and see who else is in the party!
